Is Tandem Skydiving Safe?
The first question most people ask when an opportunity to do something out of their comfort zone is “will it be safe?” At the Boston Skydive Company, we feel like this is the first obstacle many people put up to avoid facing their fear. Is jumping out of a plane “safe?” Anyone who says yes, either is lying or does not understand what they’re being asked. The best any skydive company can do is mitigate the risk to the lowest probability, and that is exactly what we do here. And how we do it, is what makes us great.
Boston Skydive Co mitigates the inherent risks of skydiving by utilizing the industry’s premium line of equipment. The United Parachute Technologies Micro Sigma Tandem System is considered the most technologically advanced parachute system on the market. It is the same one the US Military Special Forces uses, as well as the Army’s Golden Knights, tandem team. We adhere to a strict schedule of maintenance, and have twice the amount of systems necessary to operate. This allows us to set a parachute aside for review later without interrupting the days schedule. We also employ the best of the best, specifically hiring instructors with not hundreds, but THOUSANDS of skydives, and everyone follows the clear go/no go weather guides, so nothing is left to an emotional decision.
So, how dangerous is skydiving? We understand that everyone wants to hear that this is safe and no one gets hurt, but that is not true. Skydiving is a high risk activity, but it is this risk that makes the experience valuable. Going beyond your fear to accomplish something you didn’t know you could do is what this is all about. Do something incredible, do something real!
